6 months

Today my sweet girls are six months old. We plan on having a photo shoot tomorrow to record this milestone. When we weighed them this morning Addison weighs 13 lbs 13 oz. Mckenzie weighs 13 lbs 1 oz.


They are growing so fast. I am trying to take it a day at a time and enjoy each moment.
I took this picture this morning before they got their baths. More pics tomorrow, I hope.

5 months old.

Time is sure flying. My sweet baby girls are already 5 months old. I am so far behind on blogging but i mean can you blame me i have been a little busy. I will try to get some posts up soon. for now here they are on there 5 month mark.

Home

Almost home it has been a good trip but the girls are ready for some rest.

Fourth of July!

For Fourth of July we were in Utah. Most of the Reed's were signed up
to run in the freedom run 5K. So we decided to join them.

Meridith, Laura and I decided to stick together. I owe a huge thanks
to Meridith for pushing the girls almost the whole way.



The boys had a good little competition going on. Way to go Sam! He was
the first of us Reed's to cross the line. And lo and behold I was the
last. But hey that's ok I had 2 babies just over 3 months ago right?



Here we are as a group. Sweet Addison slept through the whole race.



The rest of the day was just as great as the beginning. We went to
Maceys to get some food to make for breakfast. At Maceys we ran in to
some really good friends that we met while working there. Then we met
at a park later in the day for some really good food and good company.

For some reason Addison was very tired we had a hard time waking her.

At my baby shower that Whitney and Carroll threw for me they had a onesie making station. My dear amazing friend Tori made these two horses!!! Thanks Tori, I think they look great.

My Road To Motherhood.

Infertility, IVF, Adoption, Childless, Broken.
These are all words that have been a major part of our lives the last 6 years. We have had a long journey to becoming parents. We feel we have grown as individuals and as a couple due to the trial. We set out just about 6 years ago to start our family. Things didn't go like we had hoped. For some reason I just couldn't bring myself to talk about it on the blog, but anyone who knows me knows I talked about it and shared my emotions about it.
For some reason I knew deep down I would have a difficult time becoming a mom since I was young. However knowing that did not make it any easier. There were countless times I felt so much guilt and put blame on myself for not being able to give Brian a child. It is hard to not get so down and depressed about failed treatments.
We started filling out adoption a couple times. We just couldn't seem to finish. We had done everything except IVF. Well we decided that if we did IVF and it did not work we would adopt and have no regrets. Well IVF worked. We got pregnant in August 2010 with twins.
Now that I was pregnant a whole new stress was added. I was so afraid that something would go wrong. I would imagine any woman who is pregnant is concerned that something can go wrong. So I made sure that I was doing everything I possibly could to take care of myself and the two babies growing inside me.
Since I was pregnant with twins we had ultra sounds every appointment. That was comforting to see them so much.They were doing so well for most of my pregnancy. At around 28 weeks my Dr sent me weekly to get a stress test. I have the best Dr. She really had her eyes on me and was sensing a problem around 33 weeks. I had quite a few symptoms of preeclampsia. So I was sent to the hospital to get the steroid shot to help the lungs develop quicker. That was on Monday the 21st of march. I had to get the shot again on Tuesday. I also received a stress test along with blood work. I was back to my Dr on Thursday. Thursday night was horrible I could not find a comfortable position. I remember crying for part of the night. Well Friday morning we had another stress test. When I got there I casually told the nurse that I was done. The nurse was triggered to start asking me questions. It turned out I was going to have my babies that day. My blood work was bad my urine had protein in it, mixed with major swelling and a head ache. She called my Dr and I was given the choice to deliver or wait 6 hours and run the test again and see if it got better. I had originally wanted to wait. They moved us and I asked my nurse if she was my mom what would she recommend I do. Well we decided to have the babies to keep them and myself safe. So we called my mom and got on the schedule for that afternoon. I had hoped from the beginning of my pregnancy to be able to deliver naturally. Well that was not on the plan. So at 2:01 Addison Allayne was born



Then at 2:02 Mckenzie Meridith was born.



Unfortunately I was not able to see or hold them for 13 hours. Brian was able to go see them in the nursery. We are so lucky they were so healthy. Addison weighed 4lbs 12 oz. Mckenzie weighed 4lbs 5oz. They were breathing great on their own and did not need a feeding tube. They just needed to get efficient at eating to come home. They stayed in the nursery for a week total and we brought them home.

Baby Cake

This is a baby cake. The things you learn about when you are expecting.

New Year, time to be a better blogger!

Well I am not the best blogger. I have good intentions but some how fall short in keeping up the blog. So here goes nothing, I am going to rededicate myself to trying to stay up to date with this so next year I can print this into a book.

Some highlights from last year would include
Brian's work sent him to Philly for an audit of another site, this happened the week of his birthday and Valentines day. His company paid for me to join him for the weekend. We had a good time exploring. The only down side was Brian was sick.



Then in March we went to Utah for Brian's brother Sam's home coming. He returned from serving a mission in Taiwan.
We had some amazing t shirts made with a self portrait of Sam on them, courtesy of some of his amazing sisters.


One of my best friends and I were able to go to the Taylor Swift concert in April. I know I am kinda old but I love her and her music. There were a lot of teenagers and younger in attendance that's for sure.


For my Birthday, I was surprised with a special dinner with some of the most amazing women I know, we had a great time.
This fourth of July we went to my parents beach house and saw a ton of crazy people and had fun just watching them.
Then probably the most exciting thing to happen to us this past year was to undergo some intense fertility treatments and finally achieve a pregnancy. We are so happy to be expecting twin girls in May. I am sure they will be here in April however.
So here is to a new year of blogging and hopefully staying on top of it this year.
